Rise of the Apes
Not sure if I've mentioned this before or whether the news has come your way or not, but there is a new Planet of the Apes (POTA) movie in the works and shooting begins in 3 days.
Rise of the Apes has had POTA fandom buzzing with questions about the project for some time and even so close to production there are still a lot of unanswered questions. The project has gone through many hands over the last few years so descriptions of what the movie is all about and even the type of FX (how much will be CGI vs prothetics/costume/makeup) are being debated. Also hotly discussed is how close a tie-in to the original series of movies this new movie will position itself. Thankfully, no mention of any association with the 2001 POTA Burton movie as far as anyone can tell.
We do know that the movie will depict in some form the emergence of Caesar as the first intelligent ape and his role in an ape revolution. While I hope that this is the litteral segment of time between Escape and Conquest, there is not enough definitive reporting to say exactly what to expect. We do have a decent cast signed so far that includes James Franco (Spiderman), John Lithgow, Don Cheadle (Iron Man), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) and recently Andy Serkis (Gollum/Smeagle).
All the news can found here at Alex Ruiz's unoffical site: http://www.riseoftheplanetoftheapes.com/
Now we all wait and cross our fingers and paws until this thing gets released.

Looking forward to the new ape movie
I have been following the news about the new movie fairly closely, although probably not as obsessively as you POTA maniacs, but I'm keen for the film to succeed.
I find the casting of Andy Serkis as Caesar an interesting choice. I also like the idea that the story provides some continuity with the original series, but intends to be an original script and not just a remake.
I hope it does well enough to spark a bevy of sequels!
