Robinson channels the spirit of Heinlein in his new book

Variable Star coverSlashdot has a review of the Spider Robinson novel Variable Star which is based upon an outline by Robert Heinlein. The review is very positive, but I'm always suspicious of these sort of pastiches. I'm sure RAH fans will snap it up regardless.

Those fans will be the same people flocking to Kansas City next July for the centennial celebrations of the author's birth.

Heinlein's name also lives on in the guise of the Heinlein award which is in it's fourth, going on fifth, year of existence. This year's winners were Greg Bear and Jack Williamson. Just don't confuse the Heinlein Award for the Heinlein Prize.

Greg Bear interview

Speaking of Greg Bear, here's an interesting interview with him that was also featured on Slashdot.
